Rihanna is mourning the death of her cousin who was shot and killed in Barbados over the Christmas holiday.
According to WENN.com, Tavon Alleyne, 21, was shot multiple times by an unknown assailant as he walked near his home in the parish of Saint Michael on Dec. 26.
“RIP cousin… can’t believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms! never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!! Love you always man!,” the 29-year-old singer wrote on Instagram.com on Tuesday.
Rihanna, who has at least 2 gun tattoos etched on her body, has long campaigned against gun violence — both in her native Barbados and her adopted home of the United States.
The singer was heavily criticized for decrying gun violence while glorifying guns on her body. But she told Elle magazine in an interview that she considers the gun to be a symbol of strength.
Police have no leads on a suspect in the shooting death.
