Oprah Winfrey George and Amal Clooney

Oprah Winfrey offered to match George and Amal Clooney’s $500,000 donation to the “March for Our Lives” gun control rally organized by the survivors of the tragic shooting at Florida’s Parkland high school last week.

The Clooney’s vowed to join the march and donated $500,000 for buses and other resources for the students.

Oprah also offered to support the students by matching the Clooney’s $500,000 donation.

“George and Amal, I couldn’t agree with you more. I am joining forces with you and will match your $500,000 donation to ‘March For Our Lives,’” Oprah tweeted on Tuesday evening. “These inspiring young people remind me of the Freedom Riders of the 60s who also said we’ve had ENOUGH and our voices will be heard.”

George and Amal announced they are making the donation in the name of their twins, Ella and Alexander.

Students and faculty members of Parkland high school were in the audience when Florida lawmakers voted not to hear a bid to ban assault weapons in Florida on Tuesday.

“In the tragic wake of the seventeen lives brutally cut short in Florida, politicians are telling us that now is not the time to talk about guns. March For Our Lives believes the time is now,” the rally organizers stated on its website.

Update: Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg have each matched the Clooneys $500,000 donation to the “March for Our Lives” rally in Washington, D.C.
