Culture Vulture DJ Khaled dropped his much-hyped single “Top Off” featuring JAY-Z, Future Hendrix, and Beyonce. The track debuted at 6 a.m. Eastern and 3 a.m. on the West Coast. The super producer hyped the track by releasing a cute promo short movie teaser by Ivan Berrios on Thursday night. The teaser stars Khaled and his precocious toddler Asahd Khaled sitting in a drop top Maybach.
“Top Off” is off Khaled’s 11th studio album, Father of Asahd (his son is listed as executive producer on all of his father’s albums).
Future, who usually brings it when he guest raps, is annoying on the hook: “I see the top off the Maybach / I see the top off”/ I see the po-po behind me / I ain’t gon’ stop”.
Surprisingly, yodeling Beyonce’s verse slays both her husband and Future’s verses. I rewound the audio to hear her spit again (“I’m the only lady, yet still the realest nigga in the room”).
