Trump cutting funds to the Minority Business Development Agency, the Community Services Block Grant and since I work in academia, some of his policies and budget cuts could very well affect me in the future…I won’t even get started on the cuts to the Education Dept.’s Office of Civil Rights…that may affect me and my children… I won’t even acknowledge your comment about Bill Clinton because while I don’t share your opinion, I have no opinion on the subject.

I don’t know if Hispanics are the reason Trump won the election but I agree that for most of them family values are important and generally speaking they will not vote for a candidate that is pushing a free for all sexual agenda.

Plenty of folks who are not Democrats don’t agree with Trump’s policies. I’m saying that the Democratic Party and especially Hillary Clinton in the presidential election just assumed we would vote democratic because we had no other choice. Most young Democrats wanted Bernie Saunders but they pushed Hillary on us. Since Kanye seems to be so ‘influential’ with a lot of the youth maybe this will be a wake-up call to the powers that be that we are not a monolithic group that is going to continue to vote blindly for them. I don’t stump for Trump but I am damn sure sick of Democrats take us for granted.

I don’t know about black women and I do suppose it depends on where you live because I live in the Northeast and there are no black women filled in the corporate offices. Gay people, yes…black women …no. I’ve lived here for over 10 years and have worked in many different corporate settings, legal depts, etc. and noooooo…I’ve only worked with ONE other black woman other than myself and have never seen on in a position of power such as President, VP, etc… we are still discriminated against over here…I’m sure that is the case in many other areas.

John Legend is a problematic/contradiction for me not because of his wife’s ethnicity but because of her crazy antics on social media and at social events. Her rude, shrewd, unfunny constant commentary smothered in nip slips, vajayjay reveals and always in some celebrity’s business, is exhausting and has made me see John Legend in another light. How can he chastise Kanye for what Kanye says but not help his wife keep her clothes on, stop getting caught up in other celebrity’s news and being vulgar all of the time?

John himself helped to set back black women singers by pushing Ledisi to the back burner due to peer pressure from Beyonce. Ledisi was slated to perform (first choice) the song featured in Selma, Precious Lord Take My Hand, for John & Common’s set at the Grammy’s but John bowed down to Bey. He happily said, “I can’t say no to Beyonce”. Oh yes he can, especially if he is the black activists and pure R&B/Soul artist that he portrays himself to be. He’s just another “play along to get along” when it comes to the music industry. He says he wants to be a beacon for black music but he helped to further diminish and make it harder for other talented black women singers besides Rihanna, Beyonce, Nicki and Andra Day to perform on that coveted Grammy stage. Ledisi has 12 Grammy nominations but no trophies/wins and has never performed on the Grammy’s stage. Real R&B/Soul is about dead in the mainstream and its being whitewashed right in front of us. What is John doing about that? John is probably enjoying the lack of competition. I hope I didn’t read to much into his live Gallant collaboration. John seemed not to enthused to welcome superb black male soul singers.

Not all people or individuals can be put in a box. Simple or weak-minded lackeys are followers who are easily manipulated because they are disrespectfully perceived as having no mind of their own. Just because folks are a fan of somebody’s music doesn’t mean that they are so pathethic that they can’t even think, pray, or vote in the best interest for themselves.

A number of people who like Kanye’s music also like JL’s and a list of other Black artists.

I never once criticized Kanye for voicing support for Trump… (afterall, who’s to say he actually voted for him?)

Nor did I criticize in general minorities who vote republican. However, they also are able to acknowledge that this particular incumbent may have a different agenda.
