Rapper Drake got into it with Cleveland Cavaliers backup center Kendrick Perkins after his Toronto Raptors lost game 1 in the second round playoffs in overtime, 113-112, at Air Canada Centre in Toronto Tuesday night.
The Raptors jumped out to a 14-point lead after the 1st quarter and never trailed in regulation. That’s probably why sensitive Drake took the loss so hard.
As always, the insufferably annoying rapper exchanged words with an opposing team player.
Perkins, who was signed by the Cavs in the postseason, was walking back to the team tunnel when Drake said something slick to him.
It was difficult to make out what Drake said, but Kendrick said something to the effect of, “I’m super-sized. You can believe that!”
When team security spoke with Drake’s security after the tense confrontation, the child actor-turned-rapper could be heard saying, “I didn’t say that. I didn’t say anything.”
But Drake wasn’t done. The 31-year-old Toronto native followed Kendrick to the Cavs’ locker room, where witnesses say he yelled for Perkins to come outside.
Perkins, 33, explained his encounter with Drake after the smoke cleared: “I was f—ing with Serge (Ibaka), my old teammate” Perkins said after the game. “I wasn’t talking to (Drake).
He said something slick so I said something back: ‘Sit your ass down and watch the game.’”
The overtime loss stunned Raptors fans who thought their team was on the verge of snapping their playoffs curse after losing two consecutive postseason series to LeBron James and the Cavaliers.
Game 2 is Thursday in Toronto.
