President Trump has commuted the sentence of a grandmother who was serving life in prison without parole on charges of money laundering and drug conspiracy.
63-year-old Alice Marie Johnson was a first-time offender when she was sentenced to life in 1997.
Kardashian announced the news on Twitter.com on Wednesday — a week after she visited the White House to discuss prison reform and Johnson’s case with Trump.
“BEST NEWS EVER!!!!” She tweeted along with a link to a news article about Johnson’s commuted sentence.
Kardashian said Trump “really spent the time to listen to our case that we were making for Alice. He really understood, and I am very hopeful that this will turn out really positively.”
Kardashian began to tweet about Johnson’s case after former President Obama commuted the sentences of dozens of drug dealers and petty criminals but overlooked Johnson in 2016.
Trump is reportedly considering pardoning 30 prisoners.
