With stories of school shootings and violence assaults dominating the headlines, here is a story about a teacher that you won’t see in the headlines.

The next time you complain about your long workday, consider just one day in the life of Mrs. Taylor Duncan, a dedicated 9th grade teacher at Southwest DeKalb High School here in Georgia.

In addition to teaching her 9th grade class, Mrs. Duncan, aka Coach Tay, is a mother-of-4 who just gave birth to her youngest daughter over the summer. She coaches the cheerleading squad; she’s the yearbook advisor; she’s a certified yoga instructor, and she just started classes at Mercer University to earn another degree.

Did I mention Coach Tay’s youngest child is only 5 months old? It exhausted your auntie just writing about Coach Tay’s workday!

Coach Tay went viral over the weekend on social media after she snatched a student’s phone for live-streaming in her class.

What sets this video apart from other videos recorded in urban schools is the response of the student when the teacher snatched his phone.

In a different school, in a different district, a student would have beaten the snot out of the teacher for snatching his phone — and that video would be headline news.

The difference is the teacher. A good teacher will bring out the best in her students. Mrs. Duncan deserves Teacher of the Year for all that she does for her students.

In short, our schools need more teachers like Coach Tay. Our children are being neglected and forgotten, while the Democrats pour billions of dollars into schools with a majority immigrant student body.

If you know any Coach Tays, send them a card, or an email, or drop them a text or a DM on social media to let them know how much they are appreciated!
