Some people don’t respond well to change. Instagram.com rolled out a new way to scroll through posts by tapping the screen. Also changed was the direction of the scroll from vertical to horizontal. But the changes didn’t last long.

Instagram trended on Twitter all morning after the photo streaming service changed the way users scroll through photos (by tapping the screen) and the direction of the scroll (from up and down to sideways).

Instagram boss Adam Mosseri announced the new changes on Twitter.com on Thursday.

“Instagram today (December 27, 2018) has begun to roll out an update changing the way users scroll through the main feed. Rather than scrolling up and down with a swipe, the new feed scrolls from side to side with a tap.

If you haven’t yet received the update, the dynamic mimics that of Instagram Stories and in fact the company introduced the change to users with a screen that reads, “Tap through posts just like you tap through stories.”

But before most Instagram users could try out the new changes, they were gone.

Apparently Instagram revoked the changes after users complained on Mosseri’s Twitter feed.

He apologized and even implied that the new changes were some sort of test.

“Sorry about that, this was supposed to be a very small test but we went broader than we anticipated.”

Question: Did you get the chance to try out the new changes on Instagram?
