Bravo is having a rough start to the new year. The network’s highest rated reality TV series, Real Housewives of Atlanta, just hit a new ratings low in series franchise history.
According to reports, the December 23 episode drew just 1.65 million viewers while the previous episode received 1.82 million views.
By comparison, last season RHOA averaged a respectable 2.25 million viewers per week.
This is bad news for the RHOA franchise that was once the highest rated of Bravo’s reality TV franchises.
At its peak several years ago, RHOA averaged 3.7 million viewers per episode. The next closest was The Real Housewives of New Jersey with 3.5 million viewers per week. Now RHOA ranks at the bottom.
Critics blame Bravo’s heavy handed firing of RHOA stars Kenya Moore and Phaedra Parks who were both let go after several highly publicized run-ins with other cast members.
Rumor has it that the network plans to bring Moore and Parks back next season to save the franchise from a complete ratings collapse.
Fans say season 11 of RHOA is the most boring ever. The aging cast mates include NeNe Leakes, 51, Cynthia Bailey, 50, Kandi Burruss, 42, Shamari DeVoe, 38, Porsha Williams, 37, Eva Marcille, 34, and cast “friend” Marlo Hampton, 42.
