Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade‘s holiday card sparked a backlash on Instagram.com on New Year’s Day. The Miami Vice-themed holiday card shows the power couple posing with their infant daughter Kaavia James, wade’s sons Zaire, 15, and Zion, 11, his nephew Dahveon Morris, 16, and the family’s 5 dogs.
Omitted from the family portrait was Wade’s youngest son Xavier Wade, 5, whose mom is Instagram model Aja Metoyer.
Social media users were quick to rebuke the Wades for leaving the youngest boy out of the family photo. To date, the Wades have never included young Xavier in an official family portrait on social media.
One irate Instagram user directed her comment at Union, “Thought he had a younger son too.. or am I bugging @gabunion”.
In 2013, Wade, 36, confirmed he fathered Xavier with Metoyer.
Union, 46, later claimed the boy was conceived while she and Wade were “on a break.” Her unlikely excuse coined the Internet hashtag “#breakbaby.”
Fans assume Union is still hurt over her then-boyfriend’s betrayal. They presume she banished Xavier from their public lives to spite him.
It isn’t clear why Wade won’t man up and include his son in family portraits.
Loyal reader Ang wrote a comment expressing her disapproval of the holiday card.
“That’s so messed up. It might be different if they weren’t famous but when you’re in the public eye and you know that not only will the other kids see it but everyone who knows the kid will see it you shouldn’t do stuff like that. There’s no reason for them to make their card public. There’s thousands of celebrities and the only ones I’ve ever seen public holiday cards from are the Kardashains and the ones barely famous trying to get noticed. The Wades don’t need a public holiday card. DWade seems as petty as Gabby. They must be trying to get at Aja but really hurting the kid SMH.”
