Tamar Braxton was crowned the winner of Celebrity Big Brother in the season 2 finale on Wednesday. The 41-year-old reality TV star and R&B singer beat out fellow housemates Dina Lohan, ex-Football star Ricky Williams, athlete Lolo Jones and reality TV star Kandi Burruss for the grand prize of $250,000.
During the two-hour finale, Ricky was nominated as Head of Household, giving him the power to nominate contestants for eviction, according to WENN.com. After sending home celebrities Kandi, Dina and Lolo, Ricky secured a spot in the top 2 alongside Tamar.
The two then answered questions about why they deserved to win, before former evicted housemates picked the Braxton Family Values star as their winner.
During her 30-day stay in the Big Brother house, Braxton became known for her outspoken approach and willingness to stand her ground.
After leaving the house, Tamar told ET’s Brice Sander that the series was a “blessing”.
“It’s a blessing on top of a blessing, and it means that my friendships in the house are really real. I’m grateful for that too.”
The singer added that the show motivated her to push on with her music career.
“This is the longest that I’ve gone without singing!” Braxton shared. “It’s been like 30 days! And with Joey (Lawrence) being in the house – and he’s a whole boy band by himself – it’s definitely inspired me to keep writing and keep moving forward with my music career.”
Tamar also hinted that she had several new projects in the works. “There’s a couple things going on with Tamar,” she teased.
Tamar had a rough 2018 that saw the reality star shave her head amid rumors that she was diagnosed with cancer.
