Cardi B

A Pepsi Super Bowl commercial featuring Bronx rapper Cardi B, Steve Carrell and rapper Li’l Jon is causing controversy, as many viewers say the commercial is racist.

The 30-second commercial features Cardi and Jon with Carrell in a diner, as Carrell frequently asks the question, “is Pepsi OK?”

Jon responds with his signature catchphrase “OKAYYYY!” While Cardi says, “OKURRRRRR!”

Carrell attempts to repeat both catchphrases before deciding he needs his own catchphrase.

The commercial will be featured prominently during the lead up to the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 3.

Cardi declined to perform during the Super Bowl halftime to show solidarity with Colin Kaepernick, who is an unsigned free agent.

Cardi performed on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Super Bowl Music Festival with pop singer Bruno Mars.

Li’l Jon also performed at the Music Festival on Thursday, Jan. 31, along with Migos, Li’l Yachty, Ludacris, Ciara, T.I. and more.
