Television anchorwoman Gayle King is in negotiations to re-sign with CBS for a reported $12 million salary – double what she is currently receiving to co-host CBS This Morning.
King, 64, was rumored to be on her way out the door when her contract expires later this year. But her explosive interview with troubled R&B singer R. Kelly elevated her stock considerably at the network.
King’s interview with Kelly was viewed by millions and provided a much-needed boost to the struggling morning show.
King is in talks with CBS News president Susan Zirinsky, according to Fox News.
Prior to her interview with Kelly, King was asked if she was staying with CBS. “Ooh, that’s a good question,” she told the Associated Press. “All I can say is I really love my job, and I think it’s kind of foolish to predict the future.”
King is perhaps best known as media mogul Oprah Winfrey’s best friend.
