Alex Rodriguez popped the question to Jennifer Lopez – his girlfriend of exactly 2 years – and she said yes. The former New York Yankees star and the pop singer/actress both posted photos of her engagement ring on their social media pages on Saturday night.
“She said yes,” Rodriguez, 43, captioned his picture, while Lopez captioned her photo with several heart emojis.
In recent interviews, Lopez discussed marriage, saying, “I’m not forcing anything.”
“I do believe in marriage,” J-Lo told Harper’s Bazaar in a story published in March 2018. “And I would love to grow old with somebody in a committed relationship. But I’m not forcing anything right now.”
The pop singer has a habit of rushing into failed marriages. This will be her fourth marriage. Her last marriage, to Latin heartthrob singer Marc Anthony, ended in divorce in 2014. They have 2 children, 11-year-old twins Emme and Max.
Alex divorced his first wife, Cynthia Scurtis, in 2008 after 6 years of marriage. They have 2 daughters Natasha, 14, and Ella, 10.
When asked if a second marriage was in his future, Alex said, “We’ve been together a couple years. It’s nice.”
Lopez told Harper’s Bazaar she’s grown since her last failed marriage.
“When I was younger I spent a lot of time being half happy and half not happy,” she told the publication. “I know who I am and what I want. I also know my strengths and weaknesses. It took me a long time to get to a point where I could say something nice about myself. I’m glad I can do that now.”
