Roseanne Barr says Michelle Obama is to blame for getting her fired from the 2018 reboot of her ABC sitcom Roseanne. The 66-year-old comedienne was fired after she tweeted a meme comparing former White House advisor Valerie Jarrett with a character from the film Planet of the Apes.

The meme’s caption stated Jarrett, an adviser to former U.S. President Barack Obama, looked like the result of the “Muslim brotherhood” and “planet of the apes having a baby”.

Roseanne quickly deleted the tweet and later apologized, but the damage had already been done. She later blamed the tweet on the sleeping pill Ambien.

And now she is accusing the former First Lady of being a factor in having her booted from her own show.

In a recent interview, Roseanne said she heard Michelle Obama was to blame for ABC sending her packing.

“She (Michelle) said, ‘This tweet is unforgivable’,” the disgraced actress told The Sunday Times Magazine. “That’s what I was told and I tend to believe it because the woman who fired me is now working with the Obamas at Netflix.”

Roseanne was apparently referring to former ABC Entertainment president, Channing Dungey, who has since been hired by Netflix to work on original programming, including content from the Obamas’ production company Higher Ground Productions.

Last year, the Obamas signed a multi-million dollar contract with Netflix to produce new inclusive content to influence millennials and college students ahead of the 2020 presidential elections.
