Chris Darden has had enough. After being bombarded with death threats, the former O.J. Simpson prosecutor withdrew as defense counsel for Nipsey Hussle’s killer, Eric Holder.
TMZ reports the threats forced Darden to resign as the defense attorney for the former Crips gang banger.
Holder, 29, is accused of gunning down Nipsey, 33, as he stood outside his Marathon Clothing store talking with friends on March 31.
Darden filed a motion to withdraw as Holder’s lawyer following a hearing on Friday, May 10, in Los Angeles.
A statement issued by the famous lawyer reads: “I cannot understand why in 2019 some people would deny a black man his 6th Amendment right to counsel of his choice. Or why defending such a man should invite threats not only against me but against my children too.”
Darden admits he received his fair share of death threats when he prosecuted O.J. Simpson for the murder of his wife in 1995.
“Just as they were in 1995 – Cowards never change,” he wrote. “These days these cowards don’t send letters. Instead they sit anonymously behind keyboards threatening a man’s mother and children.”
Darden had a special message for keyboard gangsters who threatened his family.
“To those who issued those threats to my children please pay close attention so there is no misunderstanding. Later. FU*K YOU!”
