An airport worker was terminated after an investigation determined she handed a note to a passenger that said “You Ugly!!!” The worker handed the note to Neal Strassner as he walked through the security checkpoint at Greater Rochester International Airport in Monroe County, New York.
Strassner said the incident happened in June. He said, after he walked away, the worker yelled: “Are you going to open that?”
Strassner requested a copy of the airport surveillance video through the Freedom of Information Act. He received a copy of the video about a month later.
The video shows the worker handing him a note and laughed as he took it. “I got handed a note, I didn’t really think too much of it. I just kept going. I had 10 minutes to get to my gate,” Strassner told WROC8.
He said he was fine but he was worried others might be offended if they received the same note.
“I’m assuming it was meant to be a joke I don’t think she was maliciously trying to insult people, but you really don’t know if somebody was in that mindset, and they received that piece of paper. It would throw them back to a dark mental place.”
