Slutty Vegan is set to open its 2nd location in Atlanta and third overall restaurant at 482 Edgewood Avenue. Owner Pinky Cole made the announcement at a one-year anniversary party on Tuesday, featuring a DJ set from Jermaine Dupri.
Former Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed attended the party and declared August 5 “Slutty Vegan Day.” Cole also handed out 1,500 pounds of fruits and vegetables to happy customers who turned out at Slutty Vegan earlier in the day.
Slutty Vegan exploded in popularity thanks to viral marketing campaigns by celebrities and bloggers. The 100% plant-based burgers are a huge hit with college students and customers from all walks of life.
The concept began as a food truck with “Slutty Strips” of realistic-looking bacon and plant-based burgers on the menu. The food truck was so popular – and the lines were so long – that Cole branched out to a brick-and-mortar location in Jonesboro, GA.
The restaurant continues to draw long lines and wait times of over an hour have been reported.
Rappers, politicians, and bloggers can easily jump the line and get their bags of food to go before the supply runs out.
The Edgewood eatery will likely open next year, Atlanta Business Chronicle reports.
