Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley expressed her disapproval at her former boss, President Trump, for tweeting about Baltimore Congressman Elijah Cummings’ home burglary.
Trump, 73, and Cummings, 68, traded insults earlier this week after Cummings criticized Trump’s immigration policy at the southern border. Trump hit back by criticizing Cummings’ home district, calling Baltimore a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess.”
On Wednesday night Cummings’ home was burglarized by a lone intruder. Police responded to a 911 call of a break-in at the lawmaker’s residence. Cummings, who was home at the time, later said, “I was notified of the intrusion by my security system, and I scared the intruder away by yelling before the person gained entry into the residential portion of the house.”
Trump apparently took joy in the Congressman’s problems, tweeting: “Really bad news! The Baltimore house of Elijah Cummings was robbed. Too bad!”
Haley responded to her former boss’ tweet with an eye-roll emoji. She added that Trump’s tweet was “so unnecessary”.
Haley resigned as Trump’s ambassador to the UN last year.
This is so unnecessary. ?
