Stand up comic Leslie Jones has decided to depart Saturday Night Live. Jones has decided not to come back for what would be her eighth season, Deadline.com reports.
According to sources, it was Jones’ decision to leave SNL after 5 years. The standard SNL cast contracts are for seven years, Deadline reports.
Jones originally joined SNL as a writer, but quickly established herself as a comedian with Weekend Update appearances, leading to her joining the cast full-time in fall 2014.
Jones is currently in Atlanta shooting Coming To America 2 with Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, Tracey Morgan, Luenell, and more.
