Dwyane Wade says he dreaded telling his highly emotional wife Gabrielle Union about his break baby when his side piece, Aja Metoyer, told him she was knocked up with their son.
Xavier Zechariah Wade was born on Nov. 19, 2013. In his upcoming documentary on ESPN, Wade, 38, said telling Union about his love child was the hardest thing he has had to do.
Wade, who is no stranger to sleeping with NBA groupies on the road, forgot to wear a condom when he had a brief sexual liaison with Metoyer, 36.
“I had a child with someone else and I had to tell her.” Wade said in his documentary D. Wade: Life Unexpected. He struggled with his secret, knowing it would devastate Union, who is emotionally fragile.
“Hardest thing I’ve ever had to do is man up and tell Gabrielle Union that I’ve had a child with somebody else. I couldn’t sleep. I wasn’t eating. When you hold something in that you know is going to come out and you have this information and you know it’s gonna f**k somebody’s life up, that you care about, tat you love, if it don’t hurt you, then you’re not human. Me and Gab just went through something you never want to go through and we still came out of it.”
Wade recently revealed his son Zion Wade prefers to be called “Zaya” and use feminine pronouns – a consequence of Wade’s long absences from home when Zion was a toddler.
Wade barely mentions Xavier in interviews or on social media. Despite that, the 6-year-old seems happy and well-adjusted.
His mom, Instagram model Aja Metoyer dotes on Xavier and his sisters Amara, 17, and Aniya, 15 – both by comedian Damon Wayans Jr.
Metoyer makes sure to keep a real man around her son at all times. In one Instagram video, the youngster runs out of the video frame while his sisters are dancing to a rap song.
We find out a few seconds later that he went to join the only man in the room. Even at age 6, Xavier knows that he is a boy who should not be dancing in videos with girly girls.
