Celebrities never miss a chance to hop on the hashtag trend. So when the hashtag “#girldad” began trending in honor of the late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, every male celebrity posted social media images of their biological daughters and referred to themselves as “girl dads.”
Kobe referred to himself as a girl dad because he could only sire girls with his wife, Vanessa Bryant. As you know, since females lack a male Y chromosome, the father’s chromosome always chooses the sex of the child.
As Instagram comedienne Jess Hilarious points out in an IG post, a “girl dad” is a father who has all girls. If a guy has one son, he is not a girl dad.
For instance, Barack Obama could only father girls with Michelle Obama. He is a girl dad.
It’s sad that this has to be explained to some people on social media.
