Rapper Pop Smoke and a friend showed off stacks cash hours before he was gunned down inside his rental home early Wednesday.
The 20-year-old rapper hosted a party at his rented Hollywood Hills home at 2033 Hercules Drive in Mount Olympus, Los Angeles police said.
The up-and-coming rapper posted a photo of himself and a friend sitting in a car, apparently flashing $100,000 in cash. Hours later, masked men broke into his home and shot him dead.
The rapper, who was born Bashar Jackson, wore a blue Louis Vuitton outfit in the photos. Blue is the color of the Crips street gang.
Police are working on a theory that someone at the party set Jackson up. Numerous party guests live-streamed the party and posted cell phone photos from Jackson’s house on social media.
Blogger @Gossipofthecity tweeted:
“Rapper #PopSmoke posted his location hours before he was robbed and killed. PopSmoke and his friend tagged Beverly Hills but ppl in LA know it’s not. They traced everything from PopSmoke Instagram account and got him.”
Celebrities reacted to Pop Smoke’s death on social media. “Yo, we gotta do better, man, what we doing? What we doing man? At the end of the day, man, we all kings,” said rapper Jeezy. “We not in the jungle, you ain’t gotta kill yo’ brother to eat.”
Jeezy urged social media thugs to “do better” and apply themselves.
