Ciara Wilson has canceled upcoming concerts to protect her unborn baby amid growing fears of the coronavirus outbreak. The Grammy-winning singer canceled a March 19 concert in Texas, which was scheduled to celebrate the grand opening of the new Fort Hood USO.
The concert will be rescheduled later this year, according to the Associated Press. Ciara, who is pregnant with her third child, released a statement to the AP.
“With the continued spread of the coronavirus throughout the U.S., as a pregnant woman, my doctors have advised me to limit travel and large group gatherings,” Ciara said.
“I am disappointed I won’t be able to return this month to the place where I was born, Ft. Hood Texas, and put on the amazing show we had planned,” the 34-year-old said.
Ciara and her husband, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, share 2-year-old daughter, Sienna Princess.
She also has a son, 5-year-old Future Zahir Wilburn, by promiscuous rapper Future Hendrix, 36. The father of 9 is working on a baby with current girlfriend Lori Harvey, 22.
Other stars who have postponed concerts amid irrational overreaction to the virus include singer Justin Bieber, rockers Green Day and singer Avril Lavigne.
The South by Southwest music festival in Texas is canceled, as is Miami’s world-famous electronic music festival, Ultra.
