Americans are critical of President Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic so far, as challenger Joe Biden polls eight points higher among voters.

56% of adults disapprove of Trump’s handling of the crisis while 41% approve.

According to the poll, many disapprove of Trump’s performance after Dr. Anthony Fauci said there will be more suffering and deaths if the country reopens too soon.

Trump has ignored calls to fire Dr. Fauci, whose incorrect coronavirus models led to multi-state shutdowns.

Dr. Fauci spoke remotely during a virtual Senate Committee hearing on Tuesday, saying reopening the country too soon would lead to “avoidable suffering and death”.

Fauci said states should wait until a vaccine is available before reopening fully and allowing citizens to return to work.

When pressed about reopening schools, Fauci cautioned that schools and colleges could reopen in the fall — if a vaccine is available.

Despite no school closures when hundreds of children die from influenza every year, Fauci claimed children must stay home or countless people will die from Covid-19.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson compared the U.S. to Sweden which never shut down schools or businesses during the pandemic. The death toll there is less than in the U.S.

Georgia reopened 2 weeks ago, and coronavirus hospitalizations decreased to the lowest level since January.

Twitter users vented their frustrations at Dr. Fauci and President Trump.
