Politico.com accidentally let the cat out of the bag when it leaked Joe Biden’s choice for his vice president running mate: California Senator Kamala Harris.
Harris posted this Instagram photo of herself and Biden together a few days ago. In the caption, she urged her followers to get their “friends, family, neighbors and complete strangers” to vote for Biden on Nov. 3.
Originally published on Monday morning, Politico.com‘s story “Running-mate rundown: Tracking Joe Biden’s VP pick” summarized 12 women that Biden could choose from, but when it came to Kamala Harris’s entry, the title read, “Biden’s VP Pick.”
In the biographical summary, Politico wrote about the 55-year-old senator, who is mixed-race (Indian and Caucasian):
“Joe Biden chose Kamala Harris to become his running mate for the 2020 election on Aug. 1, two weeks before the Democratic National Convention, after keeping his choice close to the chest for months.
In his announcement, Biden, 77, called Harris “a worthy opponent and a worthy running mate,” alluding to the pair’s rivalry during the earlier stages of the Democratic primary. She will bring her experience as a prosecutor, household name recognition, and skill as a debater to the ticket.”
The Internet’s response to Biden’s pick was mixed. Many Blacks were relieved when Harris dropped out of the presidential race because of her tough-on-crime stance in California.
A Coli.com reader wrote:
“Kamala would be a terrible choice. She’s already shown that’s she’s awkward around black folks (peep that Breakfast Club interview). I’m not sure she’d help him turn out blacks. She’s not Latina, so no help there. Technically she’s Indian, but she’s dark and West Indian…..so East Indians aren’t really trying to listen to her….they think she’s black.”
Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms was Biden’s top pick for a hot minute, but she fell out of favor with the Biden camp over her response to Rayshard Brook’s murder and the death of an 8-year-old child at the hands of Black Lives Matter demonstrators.
Question: What do you think of Biden’s choice for VP? Will you still vote for him, knowing that he will step down (due to senile dementia) and Harris will become your president?
