Cobb County police have arrested a man who entered his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and killed a man sleeping next to her in bed.

Randall Russell, 28, is accused of entering the Sierra Forest apartment on Mableton Parkway in Lithia Springs, Georgia between 4:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. Tuesday, according to AJC.com.

In an emailed statement to AJC.com, Officer Shenise McDonald said Russell stabbed the man, despite a 911 call reporting a shooting.

The critically injured man was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where he died from his injuries, said McDonald said. The suspect’s ex-girlfriend witnessed the attack.

Russell was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with murder and aggravated assault, AJC.com reports. He is being held without bail.
