A gender reveal stunt in a Cessna plane went horribly wrong when the plane crashed into the sea as the expectant parents looked on.
The accident happened off the coast of Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico, on March 30, Yahoo reports.
Cellphone video shows the light aircraft dropping pink powder to reveal the gender of the unborn child as a girl.
The plane flew overhead and then dropped out of the sky. Shocked family and friends screamed as the plane crashed.
Authorities say four people were on the plane. Two people — the pilot and the co-pilot –died. The Navy Guard did not explain if the other two people were rescued.
Gender reveal parties have increased in popularity over the years. Some of the parties have ended in tragedy, including a 26-year-old dad who died in an explosion.
The blogger who started the gender reveal craze 10 years ago spoke out after forest fires threatened lives during some parties.
“Stop having these stupid parties,” wrote Jenna Myers Karvunidis, who blogs under High Gloss and Sauce on Facebook. “For the love of God, stop burning things down to tell everyone about your kid’s penis. No one cares but you.”
