Police discovered two more bodies in the bed of a pickup truck while investigating the shooting death of a professional golfer at a country club near Atlanta.
Pro golfer Gene Siller was shot and killed when he tried to stop a man from driving a pickup truck onto the golf course at the Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Ga. on Saturday.
Siller died at the scene from a gunshot wound to the head. His body was found near the 10th hole.
Police also found a white Dodge Ram 3500 stuck on a sandbar on the golf course, Channel 2 Action News reported. The assailant fled the scene on foot. He is described as a Hispanic male, 6-foot-1, with long hair and wearing work pants.
When news outlets first reported the crime on Saturday, July 3, police had not yet discovered the bodies of two more shooting victims concealed under the retractable cover in the bed of the pickup truck.
One of the victim’s was identified as Paul Pierson, the registered owner of the truck. The third victim, a Hispanic male, has not been identified. Both men had also been shot to death.
It is unclear if the two victims in the truck or the killer are connected to the country club.
The private course sits along McCollum Parkway near Kennesaw State University’s main campus.
Siller leaves behind a wife and two young boys. A GoFundMe page raised over $190,000 in donations for the family.
