The family of slain Instagram model Jenae Gagnier is praising Cardi B for checking trolls who justified her murder because she was a sex worker.

Jenae, who was known to her fans as Mercedes Morr, 33, was strangled to death in her Houston home on Aug. 28 by a stalker who became obsessed with her.

In an emotional Instagram Story, Cardi B chastised trolls who justified Jenae’s death due to her occupation as a sex worker.

Jenae’s parents, Jeaneta Grover and Mark Gagnier, say they’re thankful to Cardi and they invited her to their daughter’s funeral.

Grover tells TMZ the family is grateful Cardi brought awareness to her daughter’s tragic death. She said Cardi took the attention off of her daughter’s alleged murderer and put it back on Jenae.

Mark Gagnier called 911 after he kicked in the door and found his daughter dead at the Cortland Apartments in the 5200 block of Pointe West Circle at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29.

In the kitchen, Jenae’s killer, Kevin Accorto, 34, was barely alive with a knife buried in his neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gagnier says Accorto spent two days in Jenae’s “destroyed” apartment, scrawling rambling messages on the walls and doors.

The family tells TMZ Jenae was a huge fan of Cardi B’s. They reached out privately to the Atlanta rapper to extend an invite to the memorial service on Saturday in Houston.

There is no pressure on Cardi to attend the celebration of life. The family says they understand she’s a busy woman and they’re just thankful Cardi brought awareness to the case.

Grover says if Cardi does show up, her daughter would have been blown away and excited, and everyone would just be grateful she took the time to pay her respects and send love.
