The Florida man who killed Instagram model Janae Gagnier spent two days in her Texas apartment scrawling messages on walls before stabbing himself when her dad kicked in her apartment door.
Richmond police were called to Jenae’s home at the Cortland Apartments in the 5200 block of Pointe West Circle at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29.
Her parents, Jeaneta Grover and Mark Gagnier, believe she died on Saturday August 28, when they last heard from her.
“Saturday goes by she is laying dead and we have this man in the apartment,” her mother, Grover told ABC7’s sister station KTRK-TV.
When Jenae didn’t return his calls, Mark Gagnier and his girlfriend rushed to her home at the Cortland Apartments in the 5200 block of Pointe West Circle at approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
“I know my daughter and when I got to my daughter’s house and it was locked up and she’s not answering my phone call, which is not like her, I knew something was up. So I didn’t hesitate to kick the door down,” said Gagnier.
Gagnier discovered Jenae’s body at the foot of the stairs.
He initially thought she fell down the stairs and died. Then he entered the kitchen and found 34-year-old Kevin Accorto, still alive with a knife buried in his neck.
“He was twitching, he was gurgling… He was there for like two days, writing on the walls.
“There’s blood all over the apartment. Supposedly, when I kicked in the door, he ended his life.
“For me to see that, I kind of just was in shock. I just stood there.”
“What I saw, I wouldn’t want any parent to go through,” Gagnier told KTRK-TV.
He said the apartment had been destroyed, with blood everywhere and messages scrawled in lipstick and a black marker on the apartment walls and doors.
The messages included, “I should have stayed in Florida”, “I wish I had never loved her,” “I hurt a lot of people” and “I was used for money.”
The 33-year-old IG model had a large following on OnlyFans, where she sold memberships for $10/month.
She also had 2.6 million followers on her @missmercedesmorr Instagram page, where she modeled Fashion Nova outfits.
Gagnier said his daughter’s lifestyle and how she earned her money scared him.
“It scared the hell out of me. My daughter was beautiful. That scared the hell out of me. And she kept trying to get more and more beautiful, she worked on it hard. That scared the hell out of me.”
Gagnier said he often talked to his daughter about her risky lifestyle.
“My monthly conversation is, ‘Jenae you have all these followers. Some probably because they love you, some because they like your look, some more crazy, and some obsessed.'”
Jenae’s Instagram account is filled with seductive photos of herself wearing bikinis and curve-fitting Fashion Nova outfits.
She was careful to blur out her apartment number in her photos.
Gagnier firmly believes that Accorto was a “crazed stalker” who became obsessed with Jenae and somehow tracked her down in Texas.
“I don’t know how he found her and I don’t know how all this happened,” Gagnier said.
