Cory Booker and Rosario Dawson are back on the market after dating for 2 years. A source confirmed to PEOPLE that the New Jersey senator and the actress are no longer dating, but they remain good friends.
They met at a fundraiser for a mutual friend in 2018, according to PEOPLE. Dawson was by Booker’s side during his failed presidential campaign in 2019. Booker dropped out of the race in Jan. 2020.
Social media trolls mocked the pair throughout their relationship. Many said Booker and Dawson were each other’s “beards” — referring to rumors that they were gay and lesbian.
“This is the first time in my life I’ve really lived with somebody — and obviously Rosario and I are enjoying and adjusting to that, right?” he told Buzzfeed in October.
While they kept their relationship private, they occasionally spoke to media outlets to hush the rumors that their relationship was fake.
