A Washington, DC mom who admitted to throwing her 2-month-old son’s body in the trash last year was killed by the baby’s father.
Police say LaDonia Boggs, 39, was found stabbed to death in her Washington, D.C. apartment on Wednesday.
Officers from the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Carl Jones, 44, the Metropolitan Police Department said in a press release on Thursday.
Boggs died nearly a year after she confessed to rolling over on her infant son while he slept in the bed with her.
In a video obtained by WRC-TV, Boggs talked about how she discovered her son had died.
“The last thing that I remember was that I had rolled over, and he was on my chest. After that, when I was ‘sleep, rolled over, noticed he was unresponsive — breathing — and I panicked.”
Boggs said she threw her son’s lifeless body in the trash.
NBC Washington reported surveillance video showed Boggs taking a car seat, a plastic bag and a box to a dumpster at her apartment complex.
Authorities searched a local landfill for the child’s body but his remains were never found.
Prosecutors decided not to pursue murder charges against Boggs, and instead charged her with tampering with evidence.
She was awaiting trial on the lesser charge when she died, according to NBC Washington.
