A rapper-turned-cult leader has been arrested and charged with rape and false imprisonment in DeKalb County, Georgia.
Eligio Bishop, who performed under the rap name NatureBoy, was arrested Wednesday by the DeKalb County Police Department’s Special Victims Unit at an upscale home he rents on Arbor Chase, Fox 5 Atlanta reports.
He faces five charges including rape, false imprisonment, and three counts of “prohibition on nude or sexually explicit electronic transmissions.”
Bishop is well-known to local law enforcement. He and his loyal followers have had multiple run-ins with the law in the past.
The suspected cult leader used his good looks and charm to lure young women off social media.
He is accused of running a polygamy cult in Decatur, according to DeKalb County Jail records, 11 Alive News reports.
He calls himself “God” and requires his followers to give him their credit cards and access to their bank accounts in order to join the cult.
“The cult believes in nudism, polygamy, and refraining from bathing. They promote eating only a vegan diet, and defecating only at the base of trees,” The Costa Rica Star reported.
Bishop is being held in the DeKalb County Jail without bail.
“They want to crucify me, they want me dead, there’s hate that surrounds me, you can feel it, just like any other prophet — only me, I’m the return of the Christ,” he said in a jailhouse phone call posted on Instagram.
“This won’t turn out like people think it’s going to turn out. This is going to turn out very differently.” he said.
