Amber Heard broke down in tears on the stand while explaining why she filed for divorce from actor Johnny Depp.
She shed dry tears when the sensational defamation trial resumed on Monday, May 16, at the Fairfax County Courthouse in Virginia.

The bisexual actress was married to Depp from 2015 until they divorced about a year later. She said violence began in their relationship while they were dating on and off in 2012.
Heard, 36, became emotional as she recalled Depp’s first act of physical violence. But she contradicted an earlier statement when she said the violence began in 2013.
Heard said the violence started when Depp attacked her after she asked about his “Wino Forever” tattoo – a tribute to his ex-girlfriend, actress Winona Ryder.
Heard’s lawyers provided multiple photos of Heard at red carpet events with “scars” on her arms. They claimed the scars occurred in Australia, when Depp held her against a glass-covered countertop and sexually abused her with a liquor bottle. She said the bottle slashed the tip of his finger.
But Depp, 58, previously said the injury happened when she hurled a liquor bottle at his hand.
Heard previously testified that Depp accused her of defecating on his side of their bed.
When asked why she filed for divorce, she told her attorney, “I knew if I didn’t, I’d likely not survive. I was so scared that it was going to end really badly for me. I really didn’t want to leave him, I loved him so much. I couldn’t stay. I believe he would’ve taken it too far and I wouldn’t be here. The violence was normal and not the exception.”
Heard also told the court that everything she said until now “has been the truth.”
Depp will be brought back to testify before the trial wraps up.
