Britney Spears suffered a miscarriage one month after reporting she and fiancé Sam Asghari were expecting their first child together.
They shared the “devastating” news in a statement on Saturday.
“It’s with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy. This is a devastating time for any parent.”
They regretted not waiting to announce their pregnancy until she was further along.
“Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along however we were overly exited to share the good news. Our love for each other is our strength. We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family.”
They concluded the statement by thanking fans for their support and asking for privacy “during this difficult moment.”
Britney was expecting her third child at age 40.
She shares two sons, Jayden, 15, and Sean, 16, with ex-husband Kevin Federline, 44.
She began dating 28-year-old model Sam Asghari in 2017.
