According to a report, actress Anne Heche’s car was remotely hacked and controlled by an unknown person before it crashed.

Rumors swirled online that Heche’s car was remotely hacked because she was about to release a film exposing sex trafficking in Hollywood.

According to an article in Motoring Life, a security flaw in Mini Cooper cars left the vehicles open to hacking.

“The fear that your car can be hacked and made to crash is not new, and it’s not completely unfounded,” the Washington Post wrote in a recent article. “Concerns about automotive cyber security have been raised since automakers began outfitting cars and trucks with computer-controlled systems.”

Heche, 53, was pronounced brain dead days after her electric Mini Cooper crashed into a house in the Mar Vista neighborhood on Aug. 5.

Seconds before the fiery crash, the actress’ car plowed into a garage at an apartment complex. A resident ran outside and snapped a photo of Heche before she sped off.

Minutes later, a Ring doorbell camera captured the blue Mini Cooper careening down a residential street. Seconds later, brakes screeching followed by a collision can be heard on the Ring camera.

The impact sparked a blaze that destroyed the house. The homeowner barely made it out alive with her two dogs and a turtle.

Heche was pulled out of the home’s rubble about an hour later.

Video footage from a Los Angeles news station shows Heche covered in a white sheet on a gurney. Firefighters apparently did not provide emergency medical treatment such as oxygen or intravenous fluids – life-saving measures that are standard for a patient suffering from smoke inhalation and burns.

Videos show Heche sitting up on the gurney and appearing to struggle with the firefighters.

The firefighters likely assumed she was dead – until she threw the sheet off of her face and sat up abruptly on the gurney.

Paramedics rushed Heche to the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital where she slipped into a coma and died on August 11.

A salon owner who spoke with Heche minutes before the crash said she was alert and did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Richard Glass, owner of Glass Hair Design salon in Venice Beach, said Heche stopped in to buy a red wig from him.

Glass shared a photo of himself posing with the star on Instagram. He captioned the image: “So I met @anneheche today and she purchased a #redwig so random..”

Glass vigorously denied rumors that he supplied the actress with drugs prior to the accidents.

Blood work showed Heche had fentanyl and cocaine in her system in the hospital.

Heche previously discussed her battles with drugs in interviews and on her podcast.

“I drank. I smoked. I did drugs. I had sex with people. I did anything I could to get the shame out of my life,” she told ABC News in 2001.

Heche said she used drugs because of unresolved childhood issues. She said she was sexually abused by her father, Donald Heche.

“I’m not crazy, but it’s a crazy life. I was raised in a crazy family and it took 31 years to get the crazy out of me.”

Heche, a native of Aurora, Ohio, dated actress and comedienne Ellen DeGeneres in the 1990s. Following their breakup, she stripped down to her bra and panties in the California desert and walked a mile to a stranger’s home, where she showered before she was transported to a hospital mental ward.

“I was told to go to a place where I would meet a spaceship,” Heche told the homeowner. “I was told in order to get on the spaceship that I would have to take a hit of ecstasy.”
