Character actor Ray Buffer is accused of stealing expensive collectible comic books from a San Diego book store.
Buffer, who appeared in the TV shows “ER” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” is seen on surveillance video shoving the comics under his shirt.
The store owner said the stolen comic books were worth $600, The NY Post reported.
Another book store in Los Angeles also shared video of the same man removing a stack of comics from under his shirt and dropping them on a table after co-owner, Alania Rice, caught him stealing.
Southern California Comics owner Jamie Newbold posted still shots from the video on Facebook with the message: “If this guy look familiar please contact us. Thank you.”
Newbold told The Post on Sunday that after he made the Facebook post, other businesses in the area ID’d the man as Buffer.
Newbold said he filed a police report on Tuesday, Oct. 4. He updated his Facebook:
“This is Ray Buffer. Our camera captured him stealing comics by concealing them in his shirt. We discovered the crime and watched the surveillance video until we saw this. We are sending all the info over to the police.”
According to TMZ, the San Diego Police Department confirmed a police report was filed about the theft at Southern California Comics.
