Singer Zuri Craig, who appeared on Season 10 of America’s Got Talent, died on Friday. He was 44.
His family confirmed his untimely death in a post on his ZoReMi Entertainment Instagram page.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the transition of our beloved son, brother and friend, Zuri Craig,” the statement read.
“We thank you in advance for your prayers. Please honor our privacy during this unimaginable time of mourning.”
A cause of death was not released.
Craig was one half of the music duo The CraigLewis Band alongside Jeffrey Lewis. Craig and Lewis were finalists on season 10 of America’s Got Talent.
Tyler Perry (right) discovered Craig (left) via YouTube videos. They worked together on several Madea projects including Madea’s Big Happy Family (2011), A Madea Christmas (2011), as well as providing vocals in Madea Gets a Job (2013).
Craig also created a web series entitled Black Hollywood: Atlanta.
