However, Romanian website Observator News confirmed that the Tate brothers were still in custody and will remain in jail for 30 days. Two women, including a former policewoman, were also arrested.

The four were held on suspicion of rape, human trafficking, and organized crime, according to DailyMail.com.

The brothers faced sex trafficking charges after a raid at Tate’s home in April found six women were being held there against their will.

The brothers initially spent 24 hours in jail, before a judge denied their request for bond.

Rumors spread Friday that Tate, 36, was released from jail after he allegedly tweeted, “The Matrix sent their agents.” The account also retweeted a meme posted by Twitter CEO Elon Musk.

Tate, who was born in Chicago and raised in London, moved to Romania because he believed he was free from prosecution there.

Police say the former professional kick boxer used his good looks to charm women and lure them to his compound. When the women arrived, he and his brother allegedly beat them and forced them to record pornographic videos for sale on his webcam service.

Tate bragged that he was a “trillionaire,” but his “home” is a collection of warehouses at the end of a desolate street about 500 yards from a Bucharest airport runway. The compound sits next to abandoned, boarded up houses.

His prized car collection is housed in one of the warehouses on the property.

Another warehouse on the property houses his “Hustler’s Academy” where he teaches get-rich-quick tips.

Another building holds his webcam video chat studio where six women were found during a police raid in April.

Tate previously said in a YouTube video: “I’m not a rapist, but I like the idea of just being able to do what I want. I like being free.”

He was banned from Instagram, Facebook and Twitter following the raid in April. However, Elon Musk unbanned his Twitter account.
