Kimesha Williams, the sister of L.A. Clippers star Kawhi Leonard, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of an elderly woman in a Temecula, Calif. casino bathroom in 2019.
Police say Williams and Candace Townsell followed Afaf Assad, 84, into a bathroom at the Pechanga Resort Casino on August 31, 2019.
They struck her in the head with a blunt object and stole her purse containing $800 – $1,200, according to The Press-Enterprise.
Assad suffered a skull fracture and was pronounced dead at a local hospital on Sept. 2, 2019. Williams was taken into custody the next day.
Williams was banned from entering the Pechanga Resort Casino in 2015 for stealing a wallet.
Williams and Townsell were found guilty of first-degree murder, robbery and elder abuse in February.
A Riverside County sheriff’s investigator asked a judge to keep Williams locked up without bail due to her violent history and easy access to her brother’s funds.
“Williams has family that are well off and could post her bail of $1,000,000,” the investigator wrote. “I am requesting NO BAIL to assure Williams’ appearance in court and to keep innocent victims safe. Williams has a violent history and targeted a feeble elderly female and robbed her.”
Jail records in 2019 listed the masculine-identified female’s height and weight as 6-foot-2 and 320 pounds.
Williams has a long criminal history that includes petty theft, grand theft, misappropriating lost property, grand theft auto and attempted robbery, court records show.
