According to Radar Online, police arrested Nima Momeni, of Emeryville, CA., on Thursday. Police sources told Mission Local that Lee and Momeni were driving together in downtown San Francisco when the stabbing occurred inside the car.
Surveillance video outside the upscale Portside apartments shows Lee approach a car before the driver made a u-turn and sped off.
The vehicle was reportedly registered to the suspect. Investigators believe a confrontation occurred between the two men inside the car. Momeni allegedly stabbed Lee multiple times with a knife that was later recovered near the spot where Lee collapsed.
The Daily Mail published video of Lee staggering and collapsing outside the Portside apartments. He repeatedly pleaded with bystanders for help but he was ignored.
Lee’s ex-wife, Krista Lee says the arrest is “the first step towards justice”. Krista Lee told a media outlet that the two men knew each other.
Momeni (pictured) wrote on LinkedIn that he is the owner of Expand IT, Inc., which is based in San Francisco.
The arrest comes days after San Francisco Mayor London Breed cautioned the news media not to “jump to conclusions” about her city’s high crime rate.
Mayor Breed said people “will be surprised when the facts come out”.
Lee, a father of 2 girls, previously moved his family to Miami to escape San Francisco’s high crime. A friend said Lee was in town on business when he decided to stay an extra day.
