Former Migos rapper Offset is convinced that he and his wife, rapper Cardi B have reached “icon status.”
In an interview with Variety magazine, the father-of-5 called Cardi B his “bestie,” and he said she coaches him on the dos and don’ts of being social.
“She always got my back, right or wrong. We both are on the same mission to make each other better. Social is her strong point, so I listen to her social advice. And me, it’s the music, but I play behind the scenes; it’s my wife so I want to make sure she win.”
He continued: “We are a great team. We’re a powerhouse at this point — icon status. We believe in God. We believe in family. We’re always going to keep winning.”
Offset’s debut solo album, Father of 4, landed in the top 5 of the Billboard 200 chart. Capitol Records hopes his new album will go to No. 1.
“Offset has made a phenomenal album; we can’t wait until the world hears his masterpiece,” a Capitol Records spokesperson told Variety. “We’re deep into release planning now and will soon have big news to share!”
Guest stars on the forthcoming album include his wife, Cardi, Chloe Bailey, Travis Scott, Latto, Future Hendrix, and more.
Offset opened up about losing his childhood friend and former group mate, Takeoff, who was killed outside a bowling alley in Houston last year.
“Talking about Take is hard, man. Talking about all this sh*t is hard. That’s why I don’t, to be honest. That sh*t hurts. Like, it’s gonna put me in a mood, and I don’t want to get in that mood. Some things I don’t never tell nobody. He’s not here. That sh*t feels fake,” he said.
Offset also confirmed he is not related to Takeoff or Migos member Quavo.
