An assistant manager of a Burger King in South Carolina was arrested for serving customers French fries from the trash.
Jaime Christine Major, 39, was arrested and charged with tampering with food for allegedly taking French fries from a trash can and serving them to customers.
According to Fox Carolina, Major is accused of taking discarded fries from the trash, adding them to a container and dumping freshly cooked fries on top.
The Union Police Department responded to a disturbance at the fast food restaurant on Duncan Bypass on July 9, Fox Carolina reported.
When they arrived they found two customers screaming threats at staff and using profanity. When the women refused to calm down, they were arrested for disorderly conduct and booked into the county jail.
On July 11, Burger King corporate headquarters called police and reported they had received a complaint that an employee was serving customers French fries that were discarded in a trash can.
The police investigated the complaint and a warrant was issued for Major’s arrest.
If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in prison, according to the State.com.
A judge set her bond at $20,000. She remains in the Union County Jail, the State reports.
