Update: An Instagram user uploaded video footage of the fight between a man and a woman that caused Monica to jump off the stage. It seems the woman threw the first punch.

R&B singer Monica Arnold stopped her Detroit concert and jumped into the audience to confront a man who punched an older woman.
The incident happened on Saturday (July 22) at Riverfront Music Festival. Video posted on Twitter shows the 42-year-old mom-of-three confronting a man while her bodyguards stood around doing nothing.
“Don’t you hit her like that!” the singer yelled. “If y’all don’t get that n*gga up outta here. We ain’t f***ing playing like that. You don’t hit no lady like that. N*gga is you out yo’ f***ing mind?!”
She then jumped into the audience with microphone in hand to confront the attacker. Monica’s bodyguards followed her into the audience.
“You don’t hit no f***ing lady like that,” Monica said, as a fan in the audience shouted “Periodt!”.
“He hit a woman?” another fan asked.
“Get him outta here!” shouted a male fan.
“Get his a** outta here!” a female fan yelled.
Monica got back on stage and apologized to her fans for losing her composure.
“That s*** triggered me,” she said. “I seen him punch that lady in the face, I lost my f***in’ temper. I apologize ya’ll. I apologize from the bottom of my heart. I was gonna knock [his] ass out with this f***ing mic.”
In a comment on The Shaderoom Instagram blog on Saturday, Mo’ explained that she jumped into the audience because no one else took action.
“I apologized there and I’m apologizing here for my actions but no [man] would take action! I was so triggered, I watched and she didn’t appear to even know him!
She added: “It appeared to be about space during a packed concert! He punched her with all his strength! My intentions were to prevent her from being hit again and she wasn’t! I asked for help, it fell on deaf ears! It was like seeing my mother or an aunt be assaulted!! This woman was 50 plus, I pray she’s ok!”
The video stunned Monica’s fans around the world. American women are put in the position to defend each other because American men are increasingly becoming feminized in today’s society.
They don’t call her “Goonica” for nothing. Monica routinely carries a Glock 9mm handgun with an extended clip in her purse. Rappers reportedly “check in” with the singer when they come through Atlanta.
