Sha’Carri Richardson criticized ESPY Awards organizers for not inviting her to last night’s awards show. Sha’Carri recently ran a world-leading time to win the 100 meter dash at the U.S. Nationals.
Fans screamed when she snatched off her orange wig and flung it behind her before the start of the race.
Her time of 10.71 seconds is the fastest in the world this year. “I’m not back, I’m better,” she said after the race.
The ESPY’s was held on July 12 in Los Angeles. Sha’Carri took to Twitter and lashed out at the awards show for not inviting her.
“The ESPYS invited me when my life was in shambles as if I was a charity case. The disrespect that track & field receives in the USA alone is nasty. Half of the athletes there now could not do what we do on our WORST day. #espys”.
Fans took offense to Sha’Carri insulting other athletes at the end of her tweet.
They reminded the outspoken sprinter that she was banned from competing in the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo (held in 2021) after she tested positive for marijuana.
Before failing the drug test, Sha’Carri was the toast of Team USA and track and field fans adored her. But her attitude turned a lot of people off.
