Fans say DJ Envy’s wife, Gia Casey did some house cleaning on her Instagram page after federal agents arrested Envy’s longtime business partner, Cesar Pina, for real estate fraud.
Fans say Gia scrubbed many photos of luxury handbags, designer shoes, clothing, jewelry, and cars that her husband couldn’t possibly afford on his radio salary.
DJ Envy is known to buy his wife extravagant gifts in the 12 days leading up to Christmas every year.
But the feds have already downloaded Gia’s entire Instagram data of photos and comments.
Cesar Pina was arrested on Wednesday and released on $1 million bond. He must wear an ankle monitor and he can’t leave the state of New Jersey.
Authorities say Pina and his wife, Jennifer, operated a fraudulent real estate company and stole $40 million from investors who believed the funds would be used to renovate and flip distressed properties for profit.
DJ Envy is accused of using his substantial radio platform to heavily promote Pina’s Ponzi scheme to unsuspecting radio listeners.
Envy, real name RaaShaun Casey, denied his involvement in Pina’s real estate company, even though he was listed as an executive on the company’s website.
DJ Envy and Pina hosted dozens of real estate seminars to teach investors about flipping distressed houses.
“Cesar and myself did seminars,” Envy told his radio audience on Oct. 11. “Now the reason I did these seminars is because I wanted to uplift my community. I wanted to teach my community about real estate – things that I didn’t know when I was first buying my first home. I wanted to teach my community about investing in generational wealth.”
He continued: “Now Cesar, if he took money, I wasn’t privy to it, nor did I even know. But I do understand how people feel if they did give him money, because I gave him a lot of money that I didn’t see a dollar of return. But for anybody to say I was involved, that’s totally not true.”
But sources say DJ Envy and Gia are feeling the heat after IRS agents raided the iHeartRadio offices this week. Agents served search warrants to remove laptops, PC computers, and other electronics.
DJ Funk Flex, who dubbed the case “Real Estate RICO,” said DJ Envy will be arrested soon.
He alleged DJ Envy took money from drug dealers and record label executives for Payola. Flex said iHeartRadio won’t fire DJ Envy to avoid a wrongful termination lawsuit.
DJ Funk Flex called Envy a “professional scammer” and “a piece of garbage.”
