Former NFL player Sergio Brown was arrested in Mexico and extradited back to the U.S. to stand trial for the murder of his 73-year-old mother, Myrtle Brown.

CBS8 News reports that Brown scuffled with Mexican immigration officers on the plane. Cell phone video shows Brown scuffling with the officers while the Aeromexico plane was on the tarmac in Mexico City. The plane was heading to Tijuana.

Michelle Williams, who shot the video, said Brown told passengers he was being kidnapped by the immigration officers.

“They’re kidnapping me again. I’m from Chicago,” he said in the video. “Why am I going to Tijuana? This is a kidnapping!”

Brown continued: “Let me go! This is kidnapping. Cameras please!”

During the scuffle, a woman identified herself as a physician and offered Brown a glass of water.

“No glass!” another passenger told her.

The officers managed to get Brown to Tijuana and delivered him to U.S. officials at the Mexican border.

The former Buffalo Bills player is being held without bond in a San Diego, California jail. He waived extradition back to Illinois. Officials have 30 days to pick him up and transport him to Illinois to face charges, or he will be released.

Brown had been missing for weeks after his mother’s body was found in a creek behind her Maywood, Illinois home on Sept. 16.

TMZ obtained video that showed Brown dancing in Mexico after he went missing. Brown said his mother’s death was “fake news.” He also claimed he was kidnapped by police and he blamed the Maywood Police Department and the FBI for his mother’s death.

After his social media pages were taken offline, Brown allegedly posted a bizarre message on a new Twitter/X account linked to his name, @sergiobrown38, on October 9.

“This is all fake news. For tabloids. Fat Mexican men with petty money to trip up an airport,” he wrote. “Don’t worry we got the graffiti gang wonding [sic] the good vibes. The cartels are Flippin the rug over and lying duh lol [sic].”
