A$AP Rocky faced his accuser, ex-A$AP Mob member A$AP Relli, in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom on the first day of Rocky’s criminal trial on Wednesday.
Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers, is accused of shooting Relli during a dispute 2 years ago. Rocky’s pop star wife, Rihanna was not in the courtroom. They are rumored to be separated.
Rocky, 35, was dressed in a tailored suit and tie for his day in court. He also wore a surgical face mask which is required in many courthouses across the country.
Relli, born Terell Ephron, testified in court that Rocky called him on Nov. 6, 2021 demanding to know where he was, according to TMZ.
Relli said they met up at an L.A. hotel, but Rocky wasn’t alone. The rapper brought armed thugs with him — and the dispute escalated.
From TMZ:
Relli claims harsh words were exchanged, and Rocky put the gun to his stomach … allegedly saying, “I’ll kill you right now.” Relli testified Rocky didn’t shoot right then and there, but claims the bullets started flying shortly thereafter as they separated.
At that point, Relli says he felt his hand get hot and knew he’d been hit … and alleges Rocky fired around 4 times before taking off running and leaving him there on the street. Relli says he didn’t go to cops until a full day later out of fear.
Rocky was arrested in April 2022 by an LAPD SWAT team who swarmed his home after he landed back in L.A. from a trip to Barbados with Rihanna.
He pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault with a deadly weapon and was released on $550,000 bond.
In August 2022, the Los Angeles district attorney charged Rocky with felony assault with a firearm.
Relli filed a lawsuit against Rocky last year. He is seeking $25,000 plus legal fees.
