Josh Giddey’s minor girlfriend and her family are refusing to cooperate in a police investigation.
The 21-year-old Oklahoma City Thunder player is the subject of 2 investigations into his alleged improper relationship with a 15-year-old girl.
The Newport Beach Police Department opened an investigation into the allegations after NBA officials launched their own probe.
The girl — who is based in the Newport Beach area — was said to be 15 years old when the alleged relationship began.
According to TMZ, the girl and her parents are refusing to talk to investigators.
The age of consent is 16 in Oklahoma, where Giddey is based.
The NBA allowed Giddey to play while the investigation is ongoing, but the public backlash continues.
Minnesota fans booed Giddey every time he touched the ball in the Thunder’s loss to the Timberwolves on Tuesday.
An anonymous social media user posted videos of 21-year-old Giddey with his underage girlfriend. She used vulgar language to describe their intimate relations in video captions.
The videos have since been deleted.
Sports analyst Malika Andrews came under fire for ignoring the story for a week.
Andrews finally covered the Giddey allegations on “NBA Today” on Friday. She looked exhausted and viewers noted her “low energy.”

Black sports fans recalled her enthusiasm for discussing the indiscretions of Black men such as Ja Morant, Kyrie Irving, Brandon Miller and Ime Udoka.
One Twitter/X user wrote: “We need Malika Andrews to find that same energy of ‘journalistic curiosity’ she has for black men and use it on Josh Giddey.”
Dallas Cowboys legend Dez Bryant accused Andrews of being biased against Black men.
But Giddey’s supporters compare him to the late NBA icon Kobe Bryant who dated Vanessa Bryant when she was in high school.
